One of the convenient things about English and German sharing linguistic roots is that some words make for especially simple translation. No prizes for guessing, for instance, the English equivalent of “spezial.” For Spring 2018, Adidas lets loose a collection that is indeed spezial, in every sense of the word.
Seasoned Adidas lovers already know that spezial isn’t just an adjective; the Spezial is a legendary, beautiful gum soled, suede handball court silhouette, a perennial favorite amongst three stripes enthusiasts.
Each season, SPZL designer Gary Aspden, gets inspiration from outdated silhouettes and revives the shoes with an updated character. For Spring/Summer 2 021, Aspden takes cues from the '70s, '80s, and '90s, using color palettes that blends neon hues with surfing aesthetics.
With this iteration, the Marathon 86 is brought back under the spotlight. While most key features like the fluorescent yellow and navy blue palette and EVA sole remains, subtle upgrades come by way of sueded overlays a red line that runs that parameter of the midsole.
